WWE: Darren Young vs. John Cena – Nexus beats their own member
Darren Young surprised the wrestling fans when he said that he wanted to fight the former WWE Champion, John Cena in a one on one singles wrestling match. Monday night RAW started with the stipulation that all Nexus members had to compete against different members of WWE team in a series of singles and tag team matches. All Nexus members except Darren Young won their matches and confirmed their ticket to stay in the Nexus.
Just when everyone was trying to choose easier opponents, Darren Young made it clear that he wanted to fight with John Cena. It was potential suicide as John Cena is one of the toughest wrestlers in WWE today. John Cena and Darren Young had some issues in the past as a couple of weeks back, Cena literally decimated Young during a fight. There were no signs of fear as Darren Young entered the ring and waited for John Cena. The crowd stood on its feet as Cena ran on the ramp and entered the ring in his signature style.
Young showed some great grappling techniques as he trapped Cena in a headlock. Young then delivered a Suplex by picking up Cena and banging his back on the ring floor. What many thought would be a one sided contest in favour of John Cena proved to be one hell of a fight. Young was giving his 110 % to the fight as he knew that he would be banished from Nexus if he lost the match. Young then went for the cover to finish the match but Cena kicked out before the referee’s final count of three.
The attempt for cover was followed by a series of leg drops by Young on Cena’s neck. The hard part for Cena came when Young threw him out of the ring and the referee started counting to 10. It was important for Cena to come back in the ring before the 10 count or he risked losing the match. Cena gathered all his strength and entered the ring when the referee counted till 9. Cena then shifted the momentum of the match as he knocked down Young by delivering a shoulder blow. Cena then delivered the 5 knuckle shukkle and dropped a big punch on Young’s head.
That was the time when John Cena trapped Darren Young in the dreaded submission hold called the S. T. F. U. This vicious submission hold puts pressure on the right leg, lower back and the face at the same time. The pain was too much for Young, as he struggled to reach the ropes. After some moments of action and drama, Darren Young tapped out. Cena raised his hand in victory as the crowd cheered heavily for him.
However, worst was yet to come for Young, as all Nexus members surrounded the ring and encircled their fellow group member. Everyone was watching in anticipation as Darren Young had to be kicked out of Nexus. Darren Young tried to apologize to the group leader, Wade Barrett but it seemed that no was interested in hearing the plea of Young. It was David Otunga who drew first blood as he punched Young from behind. That was it as the pack of wolves punched and kicked every part of Young’s body. That was a classic Nexus style attack; however, this time they were beating one of their own.
Skip Sheffield then delivered a huge clothesline and knocked down Young in the middle of the ring. More punishment was in store for Young as Justin Gabriel climbed the top turn buckle and delivered the classic 450 splash on Young’s abdomen. That was too much suffering for Young, as he continued to receive the beating from his fellow group members. Many wrestling pundits and critics believe that Nexus is stronger than ever after the elimination of Young, as Nexus has removed the weakest link.
