Vancouver Canucks to bounce back on Friday against Los Angeles Kings - NHL Playoff Preview
The Los Angeles Kings will face the Vancouver Canucks on Friday at the Rogers Arena and will look to build on their impressive 4-2 win in the last game.
The Kings now have a 1-0 advantage over the Canucks after what can be considered a big upset of the newly crowned President’s Trophy winners on Wednesday.
Vancouver were stunned and put on a woeful performance in front of a sold out Rogers Arena. However, the team still boasts some of the best talent in the league and will not take the next game too lightly.
Los Angeles were dominant throughout against a lacklustre Canucks side and outshot the home team by 39-26 shots.
The Kings though were down 1-0 early in the first period and grew in confidence as the game went on. Both sides were tied at 2-2 at the end of the second period.
However, the Kings came out in the third with purpose and scored twice to secure what was an astonishing wins over the Stanley Cup favourites.
Los Angeles it seems were surprised by their own victory and the team’s official twitter account made a jab at the Canucks.
"To everyone in Canada outside of BC, you're welcome."
The tweet though was taken down soon after as the Kings spokesperson Mike Altieri apologised profusely for any offence caused.
"We encourage our digital team to be creative, interactive and to apply a sense of humor whenever possible. To anyone who found it offensive we sincerely apologize."
The Canucks are not going to stay down this time around and are rearing to go on Friday as they look to tie back the series at 1-1.
Coach Alain Vigneault said.
"Obviously, (Wednesday) night, if it's not for (goaltender Roberto Luongo), it's not even close. We're all aware of that, it's pretty safe to say, and we need to come up with some answers."
Vancouver could not take advantage of either one of their five power plays last time out. This time they might just show why they are the President’s Trophy winners.
One loss is enough to wake up the Canucks and they will be favourites for the win on Friday.
Sum of goals will be more than six.
