Thomas Chippendale earns a massive victory for Sir Henry Cecil in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes
Thomas Chippendale, earned Sir Henry Cecil his 75th Royal Ascot victory, when he aced the 1 mile and 4 furlong track in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes on 22nd June, 2012.
The young runner followed Frankel’s victory in the Queen Anne Stakes, and was a source of pride for his connections, when he triumphed in this event.
With the help of jockey, J. Murtagh, the three-year-old colt was unstoppable, and landed a half-length victory over stable mate and Frankel’s half-brother, Noble Mission.
Third place was secured by John Gosden’s charge, Thought Worthy, while race favourite, Astrology, finished fourth.
Due to the fact the, Thomas Chippendale, came out on top in this race, he has earned himself a spot in the Ladbrokes St. Leger Stakes at Doncaster on 15th
September, 2012, where he will race with a 14-1 chance.
Since both of Sir Henry Cecil’s runners claimed placed finishes in this race, he was pleased with their performances, and regarding Thomas Chippendale, he commented:
"He looks as if he stays well and he could even be a St Leger horse. I thought both horses deserved to run as they both had a chance. The Derby third (Astrology) is a good horse but I thought he had a hard race in the Derby.
"My horses are owned by two different owners and I hate one beating the other, but they both ran very well. Noble Mission has run a very good race and he's improving as well."
About Thomas Chippendale, racing manager Barry Simpson represented the owner Sir Robert Ogden’s views of the runner, and stated that the horse holds an entry in the Princess Of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket and might take part in the Great Voltigeur
This was the second consecutive victory for the son of Dansili, out of mare All My Loving, who previously raced as a favourite in the Lloyds TSB For Journey Handicap at Newmarket on 8th June, 2012.
He defeated Richard Hannon trained, Valley Of Destiny, by 3 ½ lengths over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs.
The young runner is all set to complete his hat-trick, and possibly land a legendary victory in the Ladbrokes St. Leger Stakes.
