The Paris Saint-Germain captain has stated that he didn’t expect that Ligue 1 would be this hard and is of the view that French league is much more physical than the Italian league
The 28-year-old moved to Parc des Princes in the summer from Serie A side, AC Milan, for a fee believed to be in the region of 42 million Euros. The player has settled well in Paris and has been in fine form for the cash-laden club.
However, Thiago Silva didn’t expect Ligue 1 to be this hard and physical. While talking to reporters, the Brazil international stated that before arriving here, he was of the view that this championship is comparatively easier but this isn’t the case. The
player has expressed his surprise over how competitive and physical Ligue 1 is and is looking forward to coping with the pressure of playing for one of the richest clubs in Europe.
"I thought this championship (Ligue 1) would be easier and it surprises me more and more each time.”
Talking about his personal performance for the Ile giants this season, Thiago Silva said that he hasn’t performed consistently so far because he thought that Ligue 1 would be easier. However, the former Milan player has found out the truth and is looking
forward to play accordingly in the future.
The 28-year-old defender added that in France, players are very strong and physical and defending against such players is not an easy task. But the PSG captain is confident that he will improve with time and set his sights on leading Les Parisiens to Championelle
"I have played poorly in some games, thinking it would be easy, but the attackers are very strong and they put me in trouble in defence because I'm not a very physical player.”
Silva spent three seasons in Italy before moving to France, and the centre-back is of the view that Serie A is more tactical than the Ligue 1, which is more physical and direct in nature.
"It is difficult for me to mark this type of player. The Italian championship is much more based on tactics."
