Tendulkar should announce retirement feels Kapil Dev – Cricket Roundup – Feb 21 – Part I
On Monday, February 20, 2012, Duronto Rajshahi won their Bangladesh Premier League fixture against Barisal Burners by nine wickets after successfully chasing a tally of 192 runs, at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.
While from Burners, Phil Mustard played an unbeaten innings of 88 runs, it was Rajshahi opener, Junaid Siddique, who was named as the Player of the Match after belting an innings of 89 runs to help his side win the match.
In the 20th match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, Khulna Royal Bengals beat rivals Chittagong Kings by 44 runs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.
After amassing a total of 137 runs in 20 overs for the loss of six wickets, Khulna bowled-out Chittagong Kings on 93 runs in 18.1 overs.
While legbreak spinner, Marshall Ayub, grabbed four wickets for Khulna, batsman Nasir Hossain was named as the Player of the Match for hammering an innings of 42 runs.
Discarded Indian all-rounder, Yusuf Pathan, is optimistic regarding his recall in the national team as he feels he would convince the selectors by giving an impressive performance in domestic cricket this season.
"Obviously will try to play well (in the West Zone one day tournament commencing here on 22 February),” reckoned the 29-year-old Pathan.
He insisted that he had regained fitness after suffering a knee injury during a Ranji Trophy league match.
India’s former all-rounder and the 1983 ICC World Cup winning captain, Kapil Dev, feels that India’s finest batsman, Sachin Tendulkar, should announce his retirement from One Day International (ODI) cricket after suffering three months of miserable form.
"From what we have seen in the last three months, he should have announced his retirement after the World Cup. It's important to know that every cricketer has his time," said Kapil.
Dev called on the selection panel to take the decision on the future of the players who refuse to decide when it is time for them to take the final bow.
Sachin is currently struggling in the ongoing tri-national series in Australia against the hosts and Sri Lanka, and has also failed to score his 100th century almost after a year since he scored his 99th hundred.
