Now his next challenger will be compatriot shuttler Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka and if he wins then a semi-final spot will be waiting for him.
On the other hand, the Hong Kong campaigner Wing Ki had to bid farewell despite of winning opening game of the match.
The first set remained interesting until opening rallies as it turned one-sided affair after 4-4. The lower ranked but talented Wing Ki made difference by grabbing four back-to-back points and reached at 8-4.
He continued with same pace and finished first half with a dominating total of 11 which gave him confidence to start second half with attacking approach.
After one-minute break, he swiftly gained four-point advantage by registering 17-13 margin on the board.
This gap was never covered by his challenger and he enjoyed upper hand until last shot was played. He concluded first segment of the show with a decisive figure of 21-15.
However, Wing Ki could not turn this 1-0 lead into straight-set victory as Simon Santoso turned his plans into dust.
The Indonesian started the ball rolling by entering 8-4 total immediately and then magnified this impact with 11-8 before the announcement of break.
Later part saw him raising his score to 16-10 in third quarter of the game. The opposing shuttler strived hard to catch him in final stage.
Simon proved himself technically and tactically superior and swept the table with a striking margin of 21-16.
There was lot of drama in third and final set as it was felt that Men’s Singles expert from Hong Kong will deliver a stunner but then the local shuttler came back from nowhere and secured honour for the country.
Though, the Indonesian kept trailing behind all the way to game point situation but he struck hard when it mattered and seized glory with 21-19 total.
