Shaun Wright-Phillips linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain: Reports

French Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly shown their interest in Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The French club is currently fifth in the table and five points behind the leaders Lille. Les Parisiens are looking forward to bolster their midfield and the club officials think that the England international could use all his experience in helping them to win more games and provide a better title challenge in the 2011-12 season.

The 29-year-old has not been a preferred figure for Manchester City boss, Roberto Mancini and has only managed six appearances during the ongoing 2010-11 season. This has left the winger frustrated and he would welcome any bids for him where he could play regular first team football.

Les Parisiens are expected to offer 4 million Pounds for the winger during the summer transfers for the next season which might not be what the Citizens would be expecting, but Wright-Philips would love to make a move outside the City of Manchester Stadium.

Wright-Phillips had his loan-transfer request rejected during the January 2011 transfer window when another Premier League side, Fulham made a bid for the England international.

The former Chelsea man joined City in 2008 for 8.5 million Pounds and since then has managed to make 67 appearances for the Citizens in which he has scored 16 goals. However, Wright-Phillips has never been a preferred choice for Roberto Mancini and most of the times the striker has been confined to the bench.

While at Chelsea, the winger did not do well, managing just four goals in the Premier League from 81 appearances and 10 goals in all competitions from 124 appearances.

Les Parisiens manager, Antoine Kombouare wants to add more venom to his team and sees Wright-Phillips as the one that could be useful for his team’s chances for the next season.

Paris Saint-Germain have won the Ligue 1 twice in 1986 and 1994 but since then have not been able to win the title after coming close on a few occasions. Currently, they are just five points behind the leaders and stand in with a chance of winning the title in the current season with 12 games to play.

Wright-Phillips made his debut for the England national team against Ukraine in 2004 after coming on a as a substitute and scoring a late goal. Since then, the winger has managed 36 appearances from which he has scored 6 times.
