Serie A Preview: Cesena to register their first win, Udinese to go top, Juve-Milan to draw blanks

Lecce vs. Cagliari- Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 (14:00)

The Giallorossi suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Siena in their last league game at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Eusebio Di Francesco’s men are sitting near the relegation zone and are in desperate need of a win in this game.

On the other hand, Cagliari’s dream start to the ongoing season was halted by a stalemate against Udinese at the Stadio Sant’Elia. The Rossoblu are placed 7th on the league table and are only one point adrift of league leaders, Juventus.

Prediction: Lecce 0-2 Cagliari

Udinese vs. Bologna- Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 (14:00)

Nobody expected Francesco Guidolin’s men to start the season as strongly as they have done. The Bianconeri lost several of their star players to other clubs during the summer but despite that, they have made a strong beginning to the 2011/12 Serie A season. The Zebrette are currently on the 2nd spot of the league equal on points with leaders, Juventus. They remain one of only few teams who have not yet tasted a defeat this season.

On the other hand, Bologna find themselves in trouble very early in the season. The Rossoblu have picked only one point in the four games played thus far. Despite having a squad full of attacking promise, the Felsinei has failed to impress.

Prediction: Udinese 2-0 Bologna

Cesena vs. Chievo- Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 (14:00)

Four defeats from as many games thus far, Cesena remain the only team yet to register their first points of the new season. Despite signing a handful of players during the summer, the Seahorses have only witnessed misery and nothing else.

On the other hand, Chievo Verona have had a decent start thus far and once again lived up to their tag of ‘Giant Killers’. The Gialloblu defeated Napoli and Genoa in their last two league games respectively. However, they need to improve on their away record, which has been less than impressive thus far.

Prediction: Cesena 1-0 Chievo

Palermo vs. Siena- Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 (14:00)

The Rosanero have had a great start to the season despite losing their prolific attacker, Javier Pastore, during the summer transfer window. Davis Mangia’s men enjoy a 100 percent home record thus far and are only one point adrift of the top spot.

On the other hand, Siena picked up their first win of the new season by claiming an emphatic 3-0 win over Lecce last weekend. Giuseppe Sannino will be hoping that his team can continue the winning momentum but they must improve on their away record to make it happen.

Prediction: Palermo 2-1 Siena

Parma vs. Genoa- Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 (14:00)

The Crusaders have witnessed a poor start to the campaign and have lost three of their four games thus far. Their only win of the season came against Chievo Verona courtesy a late winner from Sebastian Giovinco. The defence has been a real concern for Franco Colomba’s team as they have let in 9 goals in 4 games played thus far.

On the other hand, Genoa have had a decent start to the ongoing campaign and are placed 3rd on the league table. The Marassi club have been in great form in both home and away matches and the form of Rodrigo Palacio and Miguel Veloso makes them a threatening team in Italy.

Prediction: Parma 0-2 Genoa

Juventus vs. A.C Milan- Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 (19:45)

League leaders, Juventus, take on struggling A.C Milan in a crunch Serie encounter. Both teams will battle for supremacy, as Andrea Pirlo takes on his former club. The Turin giants have had a great start to their season and have picked up 8 points from 4 games thus far.

On the other hand, Milan received a much needed boost with the return of striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, from injury. The Rossoneri picked up their first win of the campaign against Cesena last weekend and will look to register few more wins.

Prediction: Juventus 2-2 A.C Milan
