The young Spanish attacking midfielder was out on loan at Valencia, but now he has finally completed his transfer to the Spanish club and has parted ways with Real Madrid.
The Spanish champions, Real Madrid, never really had the space for the young midfielder, Sergio Canales. The Spanish star joined Real Madrid from Racing Santander back in 2010 and was only given 10 appearances in the Spanish La Liga until the year 2011.
Later that year he was loaned out to Valencia and was expected to impress the Portuguese tactician, Jose Mourinho.
However, after having a few injuries, the attacking midfielder was rarely given a chance in the Valencia first-team and that is the reason why he could not make the impact he was expected to make.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, kept on signing players who can play in Canales’ position.
The midfielder usually opts to play right behind the striker, and Real Madrid currently have a lot of players who can play in that role.
Players such as Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria, Ricardo Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema can all play in that position and quite frankly Canales does not have the same class as any of these players have.
Therefore, Jose Mourinho took the decision to part ways with the Spanish midfielder, especially after having many suitable replacements for him in the team.
Canales was definitely surplus to Real Madrid’s requirements, while he can definitely be useful for the Spanish giants, Valencia, who will be starting the new La Liga campaign in the coming month.
Sergio Canales is now finally a part of Valencia and will be kick-starting their campaign as they take on Real Madrid in their very first fixture.
It will definitely be a time for not only Valencia, but also for Canales to prove his worth to his former club.
There have been no firm reports regarding the transfer fee, but rumours suggest that Valencia have paid 3.5 million Euros for the young midfielder.
At the age of 21, Canales has a lot to prove to the world. He was phenomenal while he played for the Spanish U21 team and that is exactly the reason why many consider him to be a hot future prospect in Spain.
