Dmitri Sennikov has warned the Russian national team’s defence against Uruguayan strikers: Inter Milan’s Diego Forlan and Liverpool’s Luis Suarez
The Russian national football team will take on Uruguay in a friendly match at Lokomotiv stadium on Friday ahead of the Euro 2012 group stage matches. Russia have been drawn against Poland, Greece and Czech Republic in the continental
tournament.
Former Rubin Kazan defender, Dmitri Sennikov, has predicted a 2-1 score line ahead of the mouthwatering fixture. He added that the Russian team needs to work harder for the upcoming match against a stern opposition in order to
get confidence boost ahead of the European event.
Though, Dick Advocaat has not named a starting line-up, it is expected that he will start with Aleksandar Anyukov, Sergei Ignashevich, Roman Shishkin and Yuri Zhirkov in defence.
Sennikov has warned the Russian defence against Uruguayan strikers: Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan respectively.
The Liverpool striker scored 11 goals in 31 league appearances while Forlan, who moved to Inter Milan before the 2011/12 season, scored only two goals in 18 league appearances.
Sennikov praised the Olympic Sky Blue, conceding that they are a very strong team. He added that the Uruguayans have proved that they are a top team after reaching the 2010 World Cup semi-finals and becoming the South America champions
in 2011.
“First of all, this team is strong in offensively. They will field Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan upfront. They also have a decent defensive line-up. Diego Lugano is in decent form. I think it will be a good test for the Russian
team ahead of the European Championship.”
“Of course, a win in the upcoming match will make them feel confident in their abilities and they will understand about their weaknesses. It is always easier to identify mistakes after playing against such a strong opponent. I
think Russia will win 2-1 against Uruguay.” The Russian Super Cup winner was quoted as saying.
The 35-year-old has assured the fans of a great fight and has urged the Russian national team to fight until the last minute.
