Sam ‘King’ Soliman will depart for Germany on January 15 – Boxing News
IBF number one contender Sam ‘King’ Soliman is scheduled to fight WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm this year on February 1 in Germany. Winner of the fight will clash with the winner of the showdown between Daniel Geale vs. Anthony Mundine for the IBF
championship fight later in the year.
Sam Soliman has already started training for the fight. According to the Australian fighter, he has already started training for the fight four weeks ago. He added that he already had some excellent sparring sessions with a couple of fighters in Melbourne.
The ‘King’ added that all his sparring partners were of the same size and strength as Felix Sturm, which makes him confident that he is up to defeat Sturm any day.
“I started training four weeks ago for the Sturm fight and have had excellent sparring with several boxers in Melbourne who are similar in size and style to Felix Sturm,” said Sam.
When asked as to when will he depart for Germany, the middleweight contender replied saying he will leave Melbourne on January 15.
Moreover, when asked if he believes he is in the right shape for the showdown, Soliman replied saying he surely is in fantastic shape.
“I’ll be in fantastic shape for this fight because Sturm does everything to perfection. His right hand over the left jab is his best punch and he also has the best jab in the middleweight division. In saying that, I have a plan to defeat Sturm on February
1st. My style and high work rate are the key to my success and I am confident that will get me the win over Sturm. I am sure he has never boxed anyone like me,” said the King.
For now, Soliman is hopeful that he will be the one leaving the arena victorious. Although Sturm stands as the favourite for the showdown, Soliman believes he can get edge over the champion through his hard work and his unique style. While Soliman believes
that, most analysts believe the Australian stands little to no chance of defeating the champion.
If Soliman wins, he will be in line to defend the title in May probably.
