Insistently scouted by Olympique de Marseille, Le Havre youngster Ryan Mendes is also under the radar of FC Porto. However, the youngster says that he is more keen on playing for a Ligue 1 side rather than for Porto
Between Olympique de Marseille and Le Havre, there is the right chemistry. Aware that they cannot keep the talented player for long, the Haute-Normandie club has agreed to discuss their player’s future with Olympique de Marseille.
Though both parties have so far refused to say anything about the transfer, negotiations are well underway for a possible transfer of the Cape Verde player to the Stade Velodrome.
The 22-year-old is one of the finest players in Ligue 2 and is also under the radar of Portuguese giants FC Porto. While talking to media, the youngster admitted of Marseille’s interest and said that he will be looking forward to the summer transfer window.
The youngster knows that good things will happen and hinted that he will move to Ligue 1 football next season.
“Marseille is a big club. When you see that OM is interested in you, you want to go there necessarily,” says Mendes.
Also under the radar of Porto, the youngster has no plans to leave France so soon.
“Porto is a club in my heart, I always dreamed of playing for this team. At home, everybody is watching this championship and there are many players (of Cape Verdean descent). But I do not feel ready yet to go abroad. I’d like to play another two or three
years in France.”
The statements made by the talented playmaker clearly mean that the youngster will not say no to a possible move to Liga Sagres in the future.
Though some would suggest a move to Marseille as a bridge towards securing a move to Porto or any other elite European club, Olympique de Marseille would certainly be looking to tie down the player on a long-term contract.
Furthermore, with Mathieu Valbuena likely to leave the Rhone club next summer, coach Didier Deschamps and sporting director Jose Anigo would be keen on signing Mendes who has shown exceptional qualities for becoming an integral player for Les Phoceens in
the future.
