The former Vitesse striker has an expiring contract with De Koempels and could very well follow in the footsteps of legendary David Beckham and Thierry Henry by joining one of the clubs in America.
Roda JC Kerkrade striker, Mads Junker, is reportedly attracting interest from a host of Major League Soccer outfits. The 31-year-old has an expiring contract at Parkstad Limburg Stadion that runs until the summer of 2012, and will
be available on a free transfer.
The Danish striker has confirmed reports that are linking him with several MLS clubs. However, the vastly experienced attacker has stressed that his top priority remains to ply his trade with one of the clubs playing in the Dutch
“Now, I will be available on a free transfer, and I can very well move to America. On the other hand, I do certainly have other options as well. A nice club in Netherlands is still my top priority”, Junker was quoted as saying
to Voetbal International.
The Danish International started his career at Lyngby Boldklub in the summer of 1999. However, he failed to impress during his three-season stay at Lyngy Stadion, netting only four goals in 23 league appearances.
The gifted striker, who was never a great success, moved to Brondby IF at the start of the 2002/03 season, and had one of his worst spells. The striker never managed to hit the back of the net and was sold to Olstykke in the summer
Junker made headlines for all the good reasons during his one-year stay at Olstykke Stadion, scoring an impressive 23 goals in 30 appearances. His good performances were not gone unnoticed, as Nordsjaelland secured his services
ahead of the 2004/05 campaign.
The Danish ace got off to an impressive start at Farum Park in his debut season. He added his name to the score-sheet on 28 occasions in 52 games before joining Vitesse Arnhem in the summer of 2006.
The highly-talented striker failed to live up to the expectations at GelreDome, and was loaned to Roda JC in the 2009/10 season, where he scored 21 times in 34 Eredivisie games. De Koempels managed to acquire his services on permanent
basis at the start of the 2010/11 season.
