Robur Tiboni URBINO gets into final four of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup – Volleyball news
A quarter-final match of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women took place between the Italian squad of Robur Tiboni URBINO and the French side of ASPTT MULHOUSE.
Interestingly, the two teams were competing with each other for the second time in a period of seven days. The competition between the two teams was held in the French city of Mulhouse. The total number of spectators that came to watch the show were 3,000.
It did not take long for the match to decide the semi final contestant of the championship as the Italians were able to assert themselves over the home team by making a clean sweep. Despite the fact that the French lost the match in three back-to-back sets,
they did not go down without putting up a fight. The scoreboard showed the following final set scores: 25-20, 25-23 and 25-20.
The first set of the match saw the Italians take the lead early on by the coming of the first technical time out at 8-6. The start of the first frame put the French under pressure and all they could do was to trail behind as the guests were able to extend
their advantage to the second technical time out as well at 16-11. After that point, there was not much that the French could do as the Italians did not let go of their dominance and bagged the opening frame of the game at 25-20.
The second set of the match started off with both the teams coming out strong as the French were able to rally together and step up their performance. The French were in the lead at the first and the second time out at 8-6 and 16-14 respectively.
However, the Italians pushed themselves forwards in order to close in the gap and bag the second frame of the game as well at 25-23.
The loss of the first two sets decreased the morale of the home team as they only put in a half hearted effort in the third frame that made it easier for the Italians to bag the set at 25-20.
