The most exciting match of the morning session was between Kurt Maflin and Mark King. Six frames were played before Maflin emerged victorious with a 5-1 scorecard. Mark King took a flying start as he made a magnificent break of 134 in the opening frame but Maflin, who also holds the highest break record for the tournament of 140, had no reeling effects and won all the next five frames in succession with prominent breaks of 117 and 103 in the third and fifth frames respectively, sealing his victory.

Another highly-awaited match was Dominic Dale vs. Jimmy White. The people’s champion, Jimmy White, won it by a frame score of 5-2. The only century produced was from Dale (120) in the fourth frame, but he could only clinch two frames against the legend. The crowd’s favourite, White, has finally gone through to the last 32.

Issara Kachaiwong, the man who knocked out Tony Drago, has been white washed by former world champion Ken Doherty, who beat him comfortably by five-frames-to-nil. On the other hand, James Wattana, who had beaten one of the snooker greats, Steve Davis, also lost 5-3 to Mark Davis.

Ryan Day, who knocked Ronnie O’Sullivan out in the Welsh Open, had a comfortable win over Tom Ford and will be facing Ronnie ‘The Rocket’ O’Sullivan once again in the last 32.

The matches to be played now in the Round of 32 are:
