The Schalke striker has showered praise on the club supporters and wants to win in his last game at Veltins-Arena on Saturday.
The former Real Madrid striker has already announced that he will leave Die Knappen at the end of the season and is keen to grab all three points from his last home game as a Schalke player. The Royal Blues will take on Hertha
Berlin at the Veltins-Arena on Saturday, April 28.
Raul claimed that he has had two amazing season with Schalke and admitted that he has thoroughly enjoyed playing every game for the club. He thanked the fans for the unconditional support throughout his time at the side and wants
to repay their faith with a third place finish at the end of this season.
The attacker added that it is a must win game for Die Knappen as there is intense competition for the third place this season with Borussia Monchengladbach. He admitted that Lucien Favre’s team has been in brilliant form throughout
the course of the campaign and claimed that they can win their respective fixture against FC Augsburg.
“I have had two happy years here. I always felt that the people here enjoyed me as much as I enjoyed being here. There are no words to explain how I feel and I would like to thank them for the way I was made to feel here. But the
most important thing is getting three points as we are still in third place,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, club manager Huub Stevens stressed on the importance of winning the game against Hertha this weekend. He stated that the team has had an excellent season this term and feels that the team deserves to finish third
behind the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
“The lads want to give the fans something back and of course reward ourselves for an excellent season,” he concluded.
Raul has so far played 96 times for Schalke and has scored 39 goals in the process. The player has been a vital part of Die Knappen’s squad this season as the side looks to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
