Pune Warriors v Mumbai Indians – IPL 5 – Mumbai amass 120 runs – 1st innings – Live score and Update
Mumbai Indians 120/9 (20/20 ov) - Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bat
In the 45th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians after winning the toss, went through hell, but managed to post a meagre tally of 120 runs against Pune Warriors, at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune.
Mumbai skipper, Harbhajan Singh, who has not had a joyride in his first captaincy stint for Mumbai, expected a commendable performance from his side.
“We would like to continue with the momentum and hopefully we will win today. We are looking at different combinations at the top and hope to settle on one. The pitch looks very dry, I do not know what to expect out of this pitch,” said Singh after winning the toss.
Meanwhile, Pune Warriors who had a remarkable start to their season, have tasted disappointment in recent games, but now with stakes higher than ever before the side was aiming to give Mumbai a run for their money in today’s clash.
Speaking before the match, Sourav Ganguly, the skipper of Pune said, “It is an important game . All games are important but towards the end of the league stage, each and every game is important. We need to get back to winning ways. I would have loved to bat first as well.”
Meanwhile, starting their innings, Mumbai openers James Franklin and Sachin Tendulkar launched a staggering batting onslaught, giving their side a stand of 50 runs.
During this time, the side looked in impeccable form and Pune seemed out cold, however, the fielding side made a quick comeback as they nabbed the wickets of Franklin (25) and Rohit Sharma (3), followed by the wicket of Tendulkar (34) – leaving Mumbai sitting on 81 runs for the loss of three wickets.
The sudden change of events completely revamped the overall expected first innings tally as Mumbai ended their innings by posting a disappointing total of 120 runs after suffering a devastating batting collapse later in the innings.
