Premier League Roundup: Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool

Birmingham City

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish was sad to let go of Spanish player Michel on loan to Greek club AEK Athens. The manager stated that he admired Michel for his outstanding abilities but his talent was overshadowed by the current form of Barry Ferguson. The manager added that things may have been very different had Michel performed, but Ferguson proved his form and got the nod ahead of him.

“I've been involved in a few transfer dealings over the past couple of years and I'm disappointed one hasn't worked out,” stated the Birmingham coach.

Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn manager Steve Kean was delighted with the performance of striker Junior Hoilett, following the player’s goal against West Bromwich Albion. Rovers found the lead just before halftime thanks to an own goal, but the match was sealed when Hoilett managed a superb goal from 25 yards. Hoilett is enjoying top form this season, as the player also scored the winning goal of the FA Cup win against the Queens Park Rangers.

“We see it every day in training and it's just good that everyone's seeing it on the pitch because he's a quality player and I think he's a match-winner when he's on that form. I think we played some nice stuff. There were key moments in the game, especially from Paul Robinson keeping us in it at times, but I thought overall we were good value for the three points,” stated the Blackburn Coach.

Blackpool

Manchester United’s veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs has expressed his respect for Blackpool manager Ian Holloway ahead of the two teams’ clash at Bloomfield Road. The Welshman is absolutely delighted by the manager’s approach to the game and believes that his man-to-man management is extraordinary.

“The manner Ian Holloway behaves transcends to the players. You can see that they are playing with freedom. They respect the teams they are playing against but they think they can beat them. That is a great thing to have,” stated the midfielder.

Giggs, 37, doesn’t seem to age and scored his 158th goal for Manchester United this weekend. The player was expertly found by Wayne Rooney inside the box and the player managed a cool finish to register his third goal of the season. Giggs will be vital for the fixture against Blackpool as his experience will be needed to improve United’s off-colour away form this season.
