  • Perfect signings for Real Madrid (Part 1)

After having a successful end to the season under Jose Mourinho, Real Madrid are looking forward for Champions League glory for which they definitely need to sign new players.

While playing under Jose Mourinho, Real Madrid have shown that they are once against one of the best teams in not only Spain but also in the world.

Ending the dominating streak of Josep Guardiola’s Barcelona, Jose Mourinho has proven the world that he is not one of the best but ‘the’ best coach in the world at the moment.

However, what the Portuguese mentor has missed out on during the season is the UEFA Champions League glory, where Los Blancos were knocked out by Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League semi-final.

Real Madrid travelled to Munich in the first leg of the European tournament and even though the Spanish giants managed to make the score line 1-1, Munich clinched a winner late into the game as Mario Gomez slid into a cross by Philipp Lahm.

When the two sides met in the second leg, Real Madrid were able to take a two-goal lead early in the game. However, a penalty by Arjen Robben, gifted by Pepe, was able to make the score line 1-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Both the teams kept on fighting for a winner, but the winner never came and the match went on to a penalty shootout.

Munich, being from Germany, were favourites to win from a penalty shootout and they did live up to their expectations as Bastian Shweinsteiger was able to score the winning penalty, sealing a place in the final of the Champions League.

After Munich knocked Madrid out of the European tournament, Mourinho made no mistake in taking home the Spanish La Liga title.

Barcelona were done and dusted as Chelsea qualified for the final as well and defeated the Catalan giants.

Barcelona did not retain their La Liga or their Champions League title.

However, despite having a strong team at hand, Jose Mourinho definitely needs a lot of new players as there have been a lot of weaknesses throughout the season.

Currently, Jose Mourinho has a phenomenal goalkeeper at hand. Iker Casillas is considered to be one of the best of his times and replacing a goalkeeper like him would be a foolish step.

Defensively, Real Madrid have been very weak throughout the season. With Ricardo Carvalho facing an injury, Ramos had to drop into the centre-back role and he was not the best of players to replace the Portuguese star.

Moreover, the right-back position was left vacant and Alvaro Arbeloa, Lassana Diarra are not the best of players to replace Ramos, who is definitely one of the best full-backs in the world.

The left-back position was taken over by Marcelo, or Fabio Coentrao; and there is no doubt that even though these players are an attacking threat, defensively they are very weak and they were exploited time and time again.

There were never any midfield crises but looking at Mourinho’s history, the Portuguese will definitely sign a midfielder because he likes to keep a lot of competition in the centre of the pitch, so that the players keep performing for a first-team place.

In attack, with Gonzalo Higuain planning to leave in the coming future, Mourinho will try and lure a young and prolific striker.
