Manchester United defender, Patrice Evra has hailed his team’s ability to contend for the Premier League crown, despite having a number of their players get ruled out due to injuries.
United have seen the likes of Tom Cleverley, Anderson, Rafael and Nemanja Vidic get rules out for long spells in the season, but have still managed to cope in the absence of these players.
Evra strongly feels that it is the team’s spirit and their mentality, which has helped them perform as good as they have, while admitting that things are only going to get better from now on.
A number of those injured players are set to return in the near future and apart from Vidic, almost every injured United players is going to be back in the squad before the en fog the season.
These returning players, mixed with the mentality and spirit that United have developed is going to help the Red Devils push Manchester City all the way till the end.
Evra, when talking about the team’s ability to cope with the injuries is quoted to have said: "It's amazing how many injuries we've had"
"I see many teams complaining about the injuries they have but, for us, it has been amazing.”
"To lose a player like Nemanja Vidic for the season yet we've coped with that.”
"I think to get so close to Manchester City, given the injuries we have had, shows we have really good spirit in the team. That's the most important thing and that's the culture of the club.”
"No matter what happens, we don't like to have excuses. I just say 'well done' to every player but the job is not finished. The most important part is still to come."
United have really managed their injuries superbly and while other teams were complaining about having injured players, United were busy winning games and closing in on the gap at the top of the table.
The Red Devils have shown just about all the characteristics that a world class team needs to possess and it is now only a matter of time, before the team manages to catch up to City, as they try to take over the number one spot.
