  • “Neymar is no Messi, but I'd take them both,” states Dani Alves

The Brazilian international has taken out time to rate his teammate over his compatriot, yet he has admired both men as great athletes.

Barcelona’s Dani Alves has voiced his appreciation for Santos’ forward, Neymar, claiming that he is a rare talent.

However, at the same time, the defender has maintained that the youngster is not match for the Barca starlet, Lionel Messi.

According to Alves, Neymar, no matter how impressive he is, cannot compete with the likes of Messi. However, the right back suggested that the most preferable situation would be if the two men play together.

The Santos striker has been able to garner attention from all over the world due to his exceptional skill on the ball. Experts and pundits all over the planet consider the youngster as one of the most promising talents of the modern game.

Given his talent, the Brazil international has been the centre of attention for quite a while now.

Since the past few seasons, the attacker has garnered the interest of a number of top European clubs. According to reports, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all interested in acquiring the youngster's signature.

However, the player denied a move away from his native country. In fact, he went on to renew his contract with Santos, which binds him to the Brazilian club until the summer of 2014.

Even though the footballer has downplayed all rumours suggesting that he will move to Europe, speculations regarding his future have hardly died out. Many believe that the player will eventually sign for a European club.

Amidst all the transfer hype surrounding the striker, Dani Alves has remarked that the Brazilian striker is indeed an excellent performer. However, he still maintained that the Barca number 10 is miles ahead of the Brazilian.

Alves also hinted towards his desire to play alongside his compatriot as he emphasized that having Messi and Neymar play together would be ideal.

While talking to reporters, the former Sevilla player was quoted as saying:

"You cannot compare anyone with Messi at the moment. However, I would love to share a dressing room with them both: Messi and Neymar."

Neymar was the winner of the Goal of the Year award at last year’s FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony.
