Mumbai Indians v Kolkata Knight Riders - KKR hold nerve with 140 runs – Live Score and Update
Kolkata Knight Riders 140/7 (20/20 ov) - Mumbai Indians chose to field
Wednesday: After being put into bat by hosts Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders managed to amass 140 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs in a match being played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Mumbai struck fast when they nabbed their first wicket with only six runs on the board as KKR opener, BB McCullum, failed to give a big show and walked off the field after scoring only a run.
On the next delivery, Mumbai hit jackpot as they nabbed the prized wicket of KKR’s key man, Jacques Kallis, who faltered without scoring a run as a delivery by RP Singh rammed straight into his stumps.
Gambhir and MK Tiwary then halted the bowling onslaught as they countered the fielding side by hammering stupendous shots out of town.
However, with 44 runs on the board, the side suffered the demise of their third wicket with the captain perishing after belting an innings of 27 runs.
Bangladesh star, Shakib Al Hasan, was next to come in the middle as he forged a daunting partnership with Tiwary to take the side to 89 runs before he lost his wicket after scoring 13 runs.
This followed the wicket of Tiwary, who lost his way after scoring a magnificent innings of 41 runs, leaving his team standing on tally of 91.
With 96 runs on the board, Debabrata Das became the 6th wicket of the day as he was run out after scoring just two runs.
Nevertheless, with Yusuf Pathan still in the middle, there was a chance for KKR to finish with a massive tally on the board.
Pathan gave a befitting performance today alongside R Bhatia as the duo hammered the bowlers in the death to increase the run rate in order to give the home side a tough total to chase.
With Pathan unbeaten on 21 runs, the side managed to pile 140 on the board, and now they have to bowl their hearts out in order to restrict Mumbai from chasing down the total.
