Moyes keeping tabs on Lille’s Gervinho; English Premier League interested in Mexican wonder kid
Moyes in for Gervinho
Everton manager, David Moyes, is interested in signing Lille OSC striker, Gervinho, in the summer transfer window.
Gervinho has had a brilliant 2010/11 campaign and has attracted interest from several English Premier League clubs. The Ivorian has scored 14 goals in 32 games so far. The 23-year-old is one of the emerging talents on the continent and can play in an array
of attacking positions.
According to reports in England, Moyes travelled to Stade-Lille Metropole to watch the youngster in the Coupe de France final, where Lille beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0. The Toffees are looking to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window and Moyes
is definitely in the market for an attacker.
The club’s main strikers, Louis Saha and Tim Cahill, have struggled with injuries throughout the current campaign and without the duo, Everton have lacked the attacking threat. Moyes has planned a meeting with the club Chairman, Bill Kenwright, to ensure
that the funds are made available for him in the transfer window.
English clubs interested in Mexican wonder kid
Several English clubs are interested in handing a trail to Mexican wonderkid, Antonio Michael Perdoza Witham, who everyone believes can a make an impact like Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez.
Hernandez has taken the Premier League by storm and has had a phenomenal debut season at Old Trafford. Witham plays with the Mexican Premier League side, Jaguares de Chiapas, and has even been scouted by England Football Association (FA) scouts.
The player is eligible to play for England due to his mother’s English nationality and he has admitted that he would jump on the opportunity to play for the Three Lions should a call from Mexican National team fail to materialize.
Pedroza said: “My dad is Mexican, my mother, English. I was born in England, but I came to Mexico when I was a boy. I feel very Mexican.”
“I would be happy for this opportunity; I would have never expected to be considered to represent England's Under 20s. I love Mexico for the time I have spent here, but if I don't have an opportunity to represent Mexico I would accept the opportunity to
play for England.”
Witham might play against England in the U-20 World Cup in the summer, as Mexico have been drawn in the same group as England.
