Matt Hardy to return to WWE, once again – Wrestling news

Matt Hardy, former WWE star, is supposedly making a ring return at the March 3 AIWF Mid-Atlantic Wrestling event being held in Thomasville, North Carolina.

Matt, the former ECW champion, is advertised for the event to face Louis Moore, Sudden Impact, in the main event.

Matt Hardy has been one of the most controversial stars of WWE, especially after feuds with brother, Jeff Hardy, and former champion Kane. Matt announced his retirement from professional wrestling due to some grave injuries, saying that he cannot afford to work full-time anymore. However, it seems like now Hardy has changed his mind and will be making some, if not full-time, appearances in WWE.

Matt, along with his brother, has worked hard to be in the ring. He used to work for the WWF/WWE as an employee before becoming a ring sensation. It was in 1994 when Matt finally got the chance to unleash in potential by signing a full-time contract with the organisation. Back then, he had some major opponents against him such as Razor Ramon, Crush, The Undertaker, Steve Austin and Triple H. He lost most of the major matches and was considered ‘a dying star’ by many. In 1998, both the brothers, Jeff and Matt, were given full-time WWE contracts for their tag team, The Hardy Brothers. Both of them were sent to acquire proper wrestling training under former wrestler Dory Funk Jr.

Luckily, for both of them, the idea of their tag team sustained and they soon became public favourites. Their energetic high-flying combos became the real deal against other popular tag teams of that time such as Edge and Christian, Too Cool and the Dudley Boyz. Together, they won their first ever tag team championship title by defeating The Acolytes in 1999, on July 5. Later on, they hired real life friend Amy Dumas as their manager under the ring name ‘Lita’. The trio soon gained immense popularity, but prematurely broke up.

Since then, Matt, Jeff and Lita participated in singles match. While Jeff became the superstar fighting for the World Heavyweight Championship now and then, Matt always felt overlooked. Soon after Jeff retired from WWE to go to TNA, Matt re-emerged as Matt Hardy V.1 and spent some time in the spotlight. However, this span of his was short-lived and he soon retired.

Right now, Matt’s comeback does not seem to be as promising as that of Chris Jericho or Kane. It is pretty obvious that he will not be spending much time in the ring.
