The Hamburg SV player hopes to capitalize on the impressive performance against Bayern Munich, with all three points against FC Koln.
Rothosen drew 1-1 at home against the Munich giants last week and were able to get a point from the game. The side’s display in the game was in complete contrast to their dismal showing against Borussia Dortmund in the previous
game at Imtech Arena, which they lost 5-1.
Jansen admitted that the team’s home form has been drastic this season as they have won only twice in the 11 games played thus far. However, he admitted that the team is improving continuously over the past few months and are surely
on their way up the ladder.
The former Bavarian player added that a win against FC Koln would be brilliant for the team and their chances of a finish in the top six. He insisted that three points in the next game would all but ensure safety for Hamburg, at
least for some time.
“It doesn't matter where we pick up the points. If we can win against Köln on Saturday then we'll have a little cushion over the teams below us and then hopefully we'll be able to continue improving calmly,” he was quoted as saying
in an interview to Bundesliga.de.
The winger hailed his side for coming back strongly after the embarrassing defeat at the hands of Dortmund two weeks ago. He stated that his team has shown that it is well capable of performing against the best sides in the league
and is delighted on the amazing turnaround considering the club was fighting for relegation three months back.
“We had a really bad day against Dortmund, but we reacted well and that was important. Now we have shown that if we believe in ourselves we can cause the top clubs problems too,” he concluded.
Hamburg can break into the top ten with a win against FC Koln this weekend. The team is currently in 12th place with 23 points from the 20 games played and would surpass Koln if it claims all three points in the fixture
against Stale Solbakken’s side.
