Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to meet Taiwanese-American NBA Jeremy Lin on Wednesday at the Madison Square Garden next week.
The announcement of the pairing for the high-profile event was made by Top Rank. The WBO Welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao will be making his trip to New York this week and meeting Jeremy Lin, the Asian-American sensation of the New York Knicks, is on
cards.
Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to take Tim Bradley in a title defence bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and for the promotion of the bout, Top Rank is trying to punch a two-city tour. Timothy Bradley is an unbeaten fighter who will be taking on the toughest
opponent he has faced in his life. The fight is all set to happen and has already created the much required hype.
On the other hand, Jeremy Lin has gained much attention in the recent since taking on the role of point guard for the Knicks. Since his addition to the team, they have won 7 games straight in a row which has made him a favourite worldwide. Due to his Taiwanese
heritage, he has attracted the Asian crowd enormously.
However, for this very reason, he has also been targeted for racism by many popular athletes, including but not limited to, Floyd Mayweather Jr. who recently claimed that Jeremy’s popularity can only be attributed to his Asian-American background and not
his playing skills.
Now, Manny’s appreciation towards Jeremy Lin is being seen as an addition to the rivalry of Mayweather and Pacquiao. Since both the fighters have been long term rivals, Manny’s plan of meeting up with Jeremy Lin right after Mayweather’s comments emerged
on the surface has dropped jaws of many. Mayweather has previously targeted Manny Pacquiao too with his racism comments saying that he should stick to cooking sushi.
