Manchester City make Cesc Fabregas and Zlatan Ibrahimovic their top transfer targets – EPL news
Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini, has dropped a hint that he would like to sign Cesc Fabregas and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the summer transfer window.
Having qualified for 2011/12 UEFA Champions League, Mancini now wants to win English Premier League next season. The Italian has set his sights on bringing some top players to the City of Manchester Stadium next season.
City beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, to guarantee a place in the Europe’s most elite club competition. The former Inter Milan manager has set short term sights on winning the FA Cup after having set up a final with Stoke City.
Having questioned on the player he would like to sign in the summer transfer window, the Italian replied that he wants to bring Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas to the club. Fabregas is expected to leave the Gunners at the end of the 2010/11 season but his preferred destination is Barcelona. The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Camp Nou for the last two seasons and it is highly likely that the move will go through this season.
On the other hand, Mancini also wants a reunion with striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who he worked with during his Inter Milan days. Ibrahimovic is currently on-loan with A.C Milan from Barcelona. The Swede has been in phenomenal form for the Rossoneri this season and is the highest goal-scorer for them with 19 goals in all competitions so far. Milan are due to hold talks with Barcelona to make the deal permanent for the striker, while Mancini plans to lure the Catalans with a tempting bid in the summers.
"If Zlatan wants to come to City, I would immediately find a place for him. Our target at the start of the season was to qualify for the Champions League and reach a big final - so we have managed to do that." Said Mancini
Having qualified for the Champions League, City will be able to attract many players at the club and the summer transfer window promises to be really exciting.
