Manchester City favourites to sign Gervinho; Owen Coyle willing to give Danny Ward a chance

City hijack Arsenal bid

According to reports in England, Manchester City have hijacked Arsenal’s 8 million pound-bid to sign Lille striker, Gervinho, in the summer transfer window.

Gervinho has revealed that he wants to move to English Premier League and Arsenal were his preferred destination. However, Roberto Mancini is a huge admirer of the Brazilian and he wants to bring him at the Eastlands next season.

The 24-year-old has also attracted interest from Newcastle United, Sunderland and Liverpool but he wants to play for a club which can guarantee UEFA Champions League football.

The player is tipped as the new Didier Drogba and with City’s top striker, Carlos Tevez, expected to move in the summer transfer window, they are likely to replace him with the young striker.

The Manchester club’s strong financial muscle can outweigh the Gunners from securing the player’s signatures and it is believed that the club have sent a delegation to negotiate a deal with the club.

The striker scored 15 goals in the Ligue 1 season and helped his side to win the league after 17 years.

The former Le Mans star has only one year left on his current contract and he last week revealed that he would jump on a move to the Premier League.

Coyle willing to give Ward the chance

Bolton Wanderers manager, Owen Coyle, has revealed that he is really happy with the club’s youth striker, Danny Ward’s progress and will give him a chance in the first-team next season.

Ward was loaned out to league one side, Huddersfield Town, in the 2010/11 season and the striker impressed a great deal.

Talking to the reporters Coyle said, "I've been delighted with his level of performances. He is a terrific young player who is only going to get better."

The Trotters lost the club’s prolific striker, Johan Elmander, who left the club on a free transfer to join Turkish giants, Galatasaray. Coyle might miss out on another striker, Daniel Sturridge, after his loan spell from Chelsea expired at the end of the season. The Blues are reportedly not willing to extend the loan stint and the striker is expected to remain at Stamford Bridge next season.
