Madhya Pradesh v Uttar Pradesh - Vijay Hazare Trophy - Live Cricket Scores and Update

Uttar Pradesh 105 v Madhya Pradesh 108 - Madhya Pradesh won by 9 wickets (with 213 balls remaining)

In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, Madhya Pradesh won their match against Uttar Pradesh by nine wickets after successfully chasing a tally of 105 runs on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur.

After winning the toss, Madhya Pradesh chose to give their bowlers a first go at the opposition in a bid to restrict the batting side on a meagre total.

The bowlers made early inroads as they grabbed their first wicket when Uttar Pradesh had posted only seven runs on the board.

With skipper, Mukul Dagar, gone on nil the batting side came under pressure early on as they needed the remaining batsmen to stand tall against a belligerent Madhya Pradesh bowling attack.

However, with only 26 runs on the board the side suffered the loss of their second wicket when opener, Tanmay Srivastava, fell after belting a 12-run knock.

Middle-order batsman, Mohammad Kaif, then tried to forge something out of the batting side as he desperately sought a strong performance for his team to post a daunting total on the board.

However, the batsman perished after smashing an innings of 38 runs, while the rest of the batsmen faltered without scoring a challenging total as the side could bolster only 105 runs in 39.4 overs.

From Madhya Pradesh, TP Sudhindra and Ankit Sharma were the deadliest bowlers as they grabbed three wickets each, leaving Uttar Pradesh batting line-up in ruins.

Needing 106 runs to win, Madhya Pradesh got off to a flying start as the openers Naman Ojha and Jalaj Saxena gave their side an astounding stand of 71 runs before Ojha faltered after playing an innings 43 runs.

Later, Mohnish Mishra forged a match winning partnership alongside Saxena to grab a victory in the game.

Saxena belted 40 runs, while Mishra played a tentative innings of 19 runs in the match.

From Uttar Pradesh, medium pacer, Sudeep Tyagi, was the only successful bowler after taking the only wicket from his side.
