The Giallorossi head-coach demands more consistency from his team, and delighted with Daniele De Rossi’s contract extension
Despite thrashing Inter Milan by 4-0 at Stadio Olimpico Rome in their last league game, AS Roma manager, Luis Enrique, believes that his team is inconsistent.
Enrique believes that the Giallorossi cannot dream of winning the Scudetto with the way they have played this season. He insists that to become a great team, they need to be consistent like A.C Milan and Juventus have been this season.
While talking to the reporters, Luis Enrique said,
“You can’t say that we are good enough for the Scudetto just yet. To be a great team we need continuity and we don’t have that. Up until today, only Milan have been superior to us over 90 minutes, but we are some way off when it comes to consistency.”
The capital club have picked up some amazing results against the top sides. On the other hand, they have also dropped cheap points against the lowly-ranked oppositions. They are currently placed 6th in the league table with 34 points from 21 matches played so far.
On the other hand, the Spaniard is happy with influential midfielder, Daniele De Rossi’s, extension to his contract at Stadio Olimpico Rome. Enrique insists that he had full trust in the midfielder that he will remain at the club. The former Barcelona B coach insists that the 28-year-old is one of the key members of his squad, and he has the most professional attitude.
“I expected the renewal, I always said that. As soon as I arrived I saw his mentality. He’s a reference point for the team, one of the highest level, and I expect a lot from him. There are players who can do a lot on the pitch and he is one of them.” added the former Real Madrid star
De Rossi was tipped to leave the Giallorossi after he failed to reach an agreement over his contract, which was due to expire at the end of the season. After months of negotiation, the Italian international has put pen to paper on a five-year contract which will see him at Rome until 2017.
