Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard believes Luis Suarez is better than Carlos Tevez – EPL news
Liverpool skipper, Steven Gerrard, has heaped praise on teammate, Luis Suarez, and believes that the Uruguayan is a better player than Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez.
Suarez inspired Liverpool to a 5-2 win over Fulham at the Craven Cottage on Monday, May 9, 2011. The former Ajax striker’s man of the match performance against Mark Hughes’s side helped Liverpool to hold an outside chance of qualifying for the next year’s
UEFA Champions League. Suarez scored one goal and played a huge role in setting the other four goals.
Since his arrival at Anfield in January, the striker has been really influential behind Liverpool’s turnaround. In 11 league starts for the Reds, Suarez has scored four goals and also has six assists to his name.
Gerrard, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury, believes that his team really missed a Suarez like player in the early part of the season and things could have been much better for the Reds had he joined the club earlier.
Asked on whether the 24-year-old reminded him of Tevez as a player, Gerrard agreed with it but believes that Suarez’s canny movement and tireless work rate is a dream for any midfielder to play behind him.
Talking to the reporters, Gerrard said, “I think it’s natural you’re going to compare him to Tevez because of his build, his shape, the way he plays. But for me, what I’ve seen so far, I’m going to be slightly biased because he’s on my team and he’s one
of our players I think he could go on to be better.”
“He’s a midfielder's dream, as soon as you look up he gives great movement, he gives you an option all the time.” Added the England star
The former England skipper added that Suarez is most dangerous when he does not have the ball because his tenacity and attitude to win it back is an absolute joy to watch for any football supporter. Gerrard also praised Maxi Rodriguez for scoring his second
hat-trick in his last 3 league games.
