Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard hails Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez as most feared strike force
Liverpool skipper, Steven Gerrard, believes that new recruits Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez form the deadliest attacking partnership in the world.
The strike duo was purchased this January for a combined fee of approximately 58 million pounds. They were signed as a replacement for Fernando Torres who departed for Chelsea in a 50 million pound deal.
Carroll has spent the majority of the time on the treatment table since his arrival at the club and he is fit again and is establishing himself as a terrifying striker for the opposition. Suarez on the other hand has been phenomenal since arriving from Ajax
and has scored two goals in five matches and has also contributed a great deal to Liverpool’s revival in form.
Gerrard is all praise for the strike duo and said, “One thing that’s important to remember with Andy is that he’s superb on the floor. I know he is a big target man and sometimes as a team we have to be careful we’re not too guilty of going long too much,
we need to keep passing the ball. If we are in a difficult game or we are chasing a game we can be more direct but the good thing to have him in our squad and why we’re so happy to have him is because we can mix it up, we can play either way now. We can play
in behind, we can play long, and with Suarez running off him, it gives us a whole new dimension. We believe now that we’ve got the most feared strike force in the league.”
Gerrard has also hailed club legend Kenny Dalglish for reviving the season since joining as manager of the club. The Reds were lying in the bottom half of the table in the early part of the season under Roy Hodgson but since the arrival of the Scott; they
are now challenging for a UEFA Champions League spot.
The midfielder also revealed that every player is very united under Kenny and love playing under him. This could be what they need to make it in the league.
