The French striker has not been starting every game for Real Madrid but after scoring during a few important games, Benzema feels confident as he has answered his critiques in the best possible way.
The Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, is currently not considered to be a first-choice player for Jose Mourinho.
The Frenchman was tired after playing for the French national team during the Euro 2012. Therefore, Jose Mourinho decided to rest him right at the start of the season and it was Gonzalo Higuain who played in Real Madrid’s first-team.
The combo of Ronaldo, Higuain, Ozil and Di Maria was working just fine but Real Madrid was not seen winning a lot of games.
Therefore, Karim Benzema was often needed by the Portuguese coach, who substituted the Frenchman during the second half, in order to add an extra striker for his side.
The Frenchman was able to perform phenomenally in most of the games which he has played and for now he has managed to add a few goals to his name this season.
After scoring against teams like Rayo Vallecano, Manchester City and Millonarios, the Real Madrid striker is feeling confident and believes that he is getting back into shape.
The Spanish champions, Real Madrid, are currently eleven points behind their arch-rivals and table-toppers, Barcelona, and a confident player like Benzema is very much needed in the team at the moment.
While speaking about his form and how he has been performing for the Spanish giants, Karim Benzema said:
“I’ve felt good in the last few games and feel I’m progressing well. My legs are responding with every game.”
“It’s true that it felt good to play 90 minutes twice for France against Finland and Belarus and it was important to get games under my belt. I’m working very hard to achieve maximum fitness.”
“However, I never lost confidence because I’m always sure about myself and my game. When I don’t score everyone else makes a big thing of it but it doesn’t affect me.”
“I’m a goal-scorer and I love to put the ball in the net but everybody knows that I enjoy setting up others when I can.”
Real Madrid will be playing in the UEFA Champions League during the midweek. The group which they are a part of is quite difficult as they have been paired up against the champions of Germany, England and Netherlands.
After playing in Europe, Madrid will return their focus to the Spanish La Liga, where they will be playing their arch-rivals, Barcelona, in the league next weekend.
