Jarmila Gajdosova stoops to Eleni Daniilidou to progress into the quarters - Malaysian Open 2012
Aussie fourth seed wildcard entrant, Jarmila Gajdosova, was squashed by the Grecian tennis ace, Eleni Daniilidou, in the second round clash of the BMW Malaysian Open. Eleni finished her off in straight sets 6-4, 6-0 in just over
an hour time.
The match was played on the hard courts of Kuala Lumpur and a sizeable crowd had gathered in the arena to witness this encounter. They were left dejected by the one-sided show from the Grecian and wanted some battle put forth by
the Aussie, who seemed promising in her opening round clash.
Eleni kicked off the match in terrific fashion; holding her serve and breaking her opponent in the third game. The initial lead proved pivotal in the final scores of the set as there were no breakpoints witnessed in the remaining
games. There were a couple of occurrences when both players were pressurized by their opponent’s on their serves but they survived the onslaught to register successful serve holds.
The opening set finished in quick succession with not much drama in it. The 81st ranked Grecian smashed three aces compared to just one of her opponent and bagged 37 points out of 73 total played to sneak a close victory
to her name. She saved five breakpoints to keep her lead intact whilst converted one of the three allotted to her.
Grecian starlet bagged a bagel in the second set; registering a crushing triumph over the rival and marching on to the quarter-final stage of the tournament on a high-note. She is definitely fuming in with confidence especially
bagging three back-to-back breakthroughs and facing no problem at all against a superior fourth seed contestant.
Eleni smacked a couple of aces and committed no double-faults to make sure her opponent took no advantage of lose play. She bagged 26 out of 36 total points played in the set and sent a strong message to her upcoming competitor,
However, Rogowska is also high on confidence having defeated the seventh seed defending champion, Jelena Dokic, in a gruelling three-setter earlier in the day. She will definitely be looking forward to another taxing battle for
