Karim Benzema’s goal has given France the lead at Wembley.
The Real Madrid forward powerfully scored the goal that his side’s early dominance deserved after exchanging passes with Florent Malouda and beating Ben Foster at his near post with a rasping left footed effort.
Benzema, Malouda, Mathieu Valbuena and Yoann Gourcuff all tried their luck as the French started well, but England came into the half more as it went on, with debutant Andy Carroll nodding down well for Steven Gerrard, who fired over.
England were somewhat predictably booed off at half time by the demanding Wembley crowd, and they’ll hope for better in the second period.
