Indonesia Open GP Gold: Alamsyah Yunus stuns Simon Santoso in Men’s Singles quarter-final
Alamsyah Yunus, a spirited shuttler from Indonesia, continued his giant killing run and reserved a place in Men’s Singles semi-final after showing exit to his top seeded compatriot Simon Santoso in quarter-final clash at Indonesia Open GP Gold Badminton

The sixth seeded Yunus, who has been placed at number 29 in Men’s Singles world placements, stole the limelight by playing striking game against the top seed Santoso who is World Number Five at the moment.
Yunus played best badminton of his professional career so far as he did not show any sign of confusion on court and remained successful in showing exit to Santoso in straight games with a remarkable margin on the board.
In the meanwhile, the top seeded Santoso could not put up strong show of aggressive and positive badminton and also failed to maintain his speed.
Santoso could not play his normal game and lost the match without taking any set in 40 minutes.
In the first game, Yunus started to play positive badminton in all areas of the court and he did not let his opponent to occupy driving seat until the score reached at 9-9.
Yunus was in great touch as he finished up rallies with impressive control and took an 11-9 lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, both Indonesian shuttlers continued playing top quality badminton by maintaining the pace of rallies at the highest level and reached at 17-17.
At this crucial stage, Yunus played striking badminton by executing powerful smashes from rear-court area and grabbed four straight points to end up the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
In the second game, Yunus kept upper hand over Santoso from opening points as he played with precision and managed an impressive 11-6 lead until the mid-game interval.
The passionate Yunus continued his remarkable performance after the break and easily bagged the second game with a tremendous 21-13 score on the board.
Yunus showed exit to Santoso by finishing off the match in a dominating fashion with a wonderful difference of 21-17 and 21-13.
