India’s former wicket keeper Saba Karim wants India and Pakistan to resume cricketing affairs – Cricket News Update

India’s former wicket keeper, Syed Saba Karim, asked Indian and Pakistani governments to take a positive decision regarding Indo-Pak cricket ties.

According to the 43-year-old, at the moment,  the ball is in the governments’ court in this regard, as both the boards, PCB and BCCI, are waiting for the approval.

Earlier, the vice president of the Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI), Rajeev Shukla, also stated that after finalising details with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) they would contact the Indian government to seek permission to play against Pakistan.

Shukla, who recently met with PCB’s Chairman, Ijaz Butt in London, revealed that they had a very productive discussion in regards to resuming Indo-Pak cricketing ties.

BCCI’s Vice President, Shukla, who is also the Indian Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, added that they are in contact with the governing body of cricket in Pakistan to finalise the schedule of the Indo-Pak bilateral series.

It is likely that both the countries will play against each other in March next year; however, PCB and BCCI have yet not confirmed anything.

Earlier it was reported that if both boards decide to organise the series between Pakistan and India next year, then the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) would postpone the Asia Cup to avoid any clash.

The sources affirmed that the ACC wants PCB and BCCI to resume cricketing affairs between Pakistan and India.

Meanwhile, the governing bodies of cricket in both countries are also looking forward to schedule a complete series, rather than preferring the Asia Cup, which can be played afterwards.

At the moment, the Asia Cup is scheduled to start from March 13 next year, and BCCI has shown interest to play a series with Pakistan in the start of the same month.

Coming back to Karim’s statement, the former cricketer who represented his country in 34 One Day Internationals and 1 Test match, claimed that Indian and Pakistani players are eagerly looking forward to play against each other as the contest between the two sides is one of the most anticipated in world cricket.
