India Domestic Cricket Update – November 30th, 2011

At stumps on day two of a Ranji Trophy Elite fixture between Baroda and Delhi at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, the home team was trailing by 68 runs with four first innings wickets in hand, on November 30, 2011.

Delhi won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first. Because of a splendid hundred by Rakesh Solanki and an outstandling 93 by the wicketkeeper/batsman and captain Pinal Shah, Baroda posted a competitive total of 318 runs on the board.

Out of favour Test fast bowler, Ashish Nehra was the star of the show for the home team as he grabbed six wickets to help his team’s cause.

In reply, Delhi came up with a fighting response because of a brilliant ton by Puneet Bisht, and scored 250 runs for the loss of six wickets by the close of play on day two of the match.

Another discarded left-arm fast bowler, Irfan Pathan, has picked up five out of the six wickets to have fallen in Delhi’s innings so far and would love to increase his tally of wickets on the third day.

In another match at the DRIEMS Ground, Tangi, Cuttack, Mumbai was right on top against Orissa as the later was trailing by 472 runs with three wickets in hand in the first innings.

Wasim Jaffer won the toss for Mumbai and decided to bat first on a classic batting track. It proved to be a great decision as Mumbai posted a mammoth total of 529 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets before declaring the innings.

Suryakumar Yadav was the star as he scored an astonishing double hundred and to seize the advantage for his team. Opening batsman, Kaustubh Pawar also shined and scored 127 runs with the help of 17 boundaries.

In reply to a massive score by Mumbai, Orissa succumbed under pressure in the first innings and had lost seven wickets for a mere 57 on the board at the close of play on day two. Dhawal Kulkarni was the chief destroyer as he has claimed four wickets so far.
