I am fully fit and ready for competitive cricket - Harbhajan Singh
The out of favour India off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh has recovered completely from his shin bone injury and is all set to return to competitive cricket. He is set to feature in the North Zone leg of the National One Day Championship for the Vijay Hazare
Trophy, starting in New Delhi from February 20, 2012.
This was revealed by the 31-year-old right arm off-spinner during a telephonic interview from Bangalore.
"I am fully fit and ready for competitive cricket,” said Bhajji speaking to a leading news agency on Saturday night. “I will be making a comeback during Zonal One-dayers where I will be leading the Punjab side," he added further.
The experienced Indian spinner, who is struggling to win back the confidence of the BCCI selectors, had sustained a shin bone injury in November last year. The ‘Turbanator’ missed India’s domestic first-class tournament, the Ranji Trophy, due to his injury.
He was the captain of the side, and in his absence Uday Kaul was given the responsibility to lead the side.
The discarded offie has been struggling with his form since the ICC World Cup 2011, jointly hosted by India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka last year. He has not played for Indian since the away Test series against England last summer, where the Turbanator failed
to perform in the first two Tests of the four-match series before returning home with an abdominal strain.
Since then, he has not been picked in the national side. He missed the home one-day series against England before being overlooked for the home series against the West Indies. He also failed to make cut for the ongoing tour of Australia.
After being overlooked for national selection, the spinner returned to the domestic circuit to regain his lost form. He was unimpressive in the three Ranji Trophy games he played before picking up the shin injury in November last year.
"I have been bowling regularly at the NCA and haven't encountered any problems. My fight to make a comeback into the national team will start with zonal one-dayers and hopefully I will be able to perform to the best of my abilities," the 31-year-old said.
Punjab will play their first Vijay Hazare Trophy match against the host Delhi, at the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium on February 22,
