Hong Kong’s spirited young shuttler proved his mettle as he stormed into Men’s Singles quarter-final after ousting the higher ranked Tien Minh Nguyen of Vietnam in quarter-final encounter of Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2012 on Friday, June 15, in
Yun, who has been placed at number 25 in the world, showed his impressive skills while playing against the World Number 11 Tien Minh and won the battle after putting up phenomenal show of aggressive badminton.
The lower ranked Hong Kong shuttler was on a completely different level as he showed a wonderful confidence in the court and managed to win the match in three games with a comprehensive score.
On the other hand, Tien minh could not continue his impressive run in the tournament as he failed to play positive badminton and lost to his lower ranked challenger in three sets without creating a strong impact.
In the opening game, both shuttlers played at their best as the pace of rallies was at the highest level. Until the one-minute break, no one could establish a gap on the score board.
After the break, both shuttlers continued their positive run in the court and reached at the ending phase when Yun controlled the pace by playing to his maximum potential and won the set with a margin of 21-19.
In the second game, Yun could not maintain his aggression as his higher ranked rival unleashed his attacking shots and managed to take a huge lead on the score board.
After the interval, the Hong Kong player tried to reduce the deficit but failed to stop the aggression of his rival and lost the game with a huge difference of 8-21.
In the final set, Yun stunned Tien Minh with his flawless play as he took a staggering lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the in-form Hong Kong shuttler continued his inspiring run in the court and grabbed the deciding set with a superb 21-9 score on the board.
The lower ranked Yun emerged as the winner in three games with a superb score of 21-19, 8-21 and 21-9.
