Hammad Azam wants to cement his place in the Pakistan team – Cricket News Update

The young Pakistani all-rounder, Hammad Azam is excited to have been recalled to the national team for the limited overs portion of the series against England and he has promised his fans that he will grab this opportunity with both hands to cement his place in the national team.

The all-rounder from Pakistan came through the ranks of junior cricket in the country and represented Pakistan at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2009 in New Zealand. His hard hitting style of batting endured many fans towards him.

Azam was given an opportunity to establish himself in the team on the tour of the West Indies last year. He failed to grab his chance. However, after some hard work, and consistent performances at the domestic level, the all-rounder has once again been given an opportunity against England to prove his worth. He has been selected for both ODI and T20 squads, which are going to take on England later this month.

The all-rounder was not expecting a recall into the national side so quickly, but he was glad and thanked the selectors for showing faith in him, and this time he does not want to waste the opportunity. He is eager to justify his selection through his performances.

Hammad said, "I wasn't expecting to be picked. I was in the field when I heard of my selection and it came as a huge surprise to me. I'm delighted and am looking forward to paying back the selectors' trust in me through my performances."

Hammed further vowed that if given a chance in the playing XI against England, he will make sure that he makes a permanent place for himself in the Pakistan team. He is currently high on confidence, at the back of some impressive shows in domestic cricket.

"If given the chance, I'll make sure I'm not dropped again. I'm fit and well-prepared because of my participation in the Pentangular Cup. Pakistan's form in the Tests has given me much confidence. It's a motivating factor for me and has reduced the pressure of making a comeback," he added.

Pakistan and England play each other in a four match One Day International series.
