The Bianconeri manager hails his team’s performances, but furious after taking the away goal to Stadio San Paolo
Siena manager, Giuseppe Sannino, is delighted with his team’s 2-1 win over Napoli in first-leg of the semi-final of Coppa Italia at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Thursday, February 9.
Reginaldo and Gaetano D’Agostino put the host’s in-front before an own-goal from Emanuele Pesoli provided a consolation for the visitors. The Tuscan outfit has managed to make it to the semi-finals of the competition for the first-time
in their history.
Sannino is extremely happy with his team’s performance against Walter Mazzarri’s side, but at the same time he is also livid with them for the cheap goal they conceded towards the dying moments of the match. The manager believes
that his team played extremely well against the Azzurri and the goal they conceded was due to bad luck.
While talking to the reporters, Sannino said,
“I was angry with my players because they could’ve put the ball out of play before Napoli’s goal and ended it there rather than argue with the referee. We played a great game and Napoli’s goal came because if they put their entire
battery of strikers up against you, it’s stunning.”
He admitted that the job is only half-done, and his team needs to work extremely hard to get to the finals. The tactician is predicting an extremely tough game at Naples provided that they have conceded the all important away goal.
However, the Tuscan manager is proud of his team’s efforts of reaching that far.
“Napoli are a very strong team with an excellent Coach and play good football. It’ll be difficult for the second leg seeing as we conceded that away goal, but just playing a Coppa Italia semi-final in Naples is reason to be proud.”

On contrary to their impressive Cup form, their league performances have been extremely unimpressive, as they are just one point above the relegation zone. Siena are placed 17th in the league with 20 points from 21 matches
played so far.
The return leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final will be played at Stadio San Paolo on March 20, 2012.
