Galatasaray midfielder Lorik Cana eyeing Serie A move – Turkish football news

According to reports emerging from Turkey, Galatasaray midfielder Lorik Cana might leave the Turkish giants by the end of the current campaign.

The 27-year-old Albanian joined the Turkish giants last summer from English Premier League side Sunderland, but the club’s current league standing in the Super Lig has forced the player to look for a move. The player is reportedly in hunt of a club that can entertain his desire of playing in the European club competitions; UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

If the reports are to be believed, a host of European clubs are looking for a chance to sign the influential Albanian. English sides such as Aston Villa, Bolton and Fulham are sizing up bids for the former Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Marseille man. The aforementioned English clubs did make offers for the player in the January transfer window, but Galatasaray decided against cashing-in on the player. Cana’s father and agent, Agim Cana, has also revealed that the player is looking for a move away from the Turkish giants.

Furthermore, it has been suggested that the player is keener on a move to Italy with Serie A giants, SS Lazio, being his preferred destination. Lazio are currently fifth in the Serie A standings and are almost guaranteed a place in next season’s edition of the Europa League. The Roman club might even qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The Aquile are looking for a defensive midfielder and the Italians are currently monitoring Cana’s situation. It will be a major blow for Galatasaray should Cana decide to leave the club after joining them only last summer. Since his arrival in Istanbul, Cana has become an integral part of the side and has become a first team regular. Although Lorik Cana joined from Sunderland for a reported 4.5 million Pounds fee, Galatasaray would be looking for a bid in the region of 6 million pounds as compensation for the player.
