FC Girondins de Bordeaux and France national team goalkeeper, Cedric Carrasso has analysed his season with the Aquitaine club and is keen on doing well in the Coupe de France and wants to be at the Euro 2012
While talking to media, France international goalkeeper, Cedric Carrasso spoke about his season so far with FC Girondins de Bordeaux. The 30-year-old has been in fine form for the Aquitaine club and has played a massive role in the club’s recent run of results.
Bordeaux coach, Francis Gillot is very impressed with the Avignon-born shot-stopper and thinks that he is one of the best goalkeepers in France and he is lucky to have him in his team.
2011 was certainly a challenging year for both Bordeaux and Carrasso. At the start of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign, Bordeaux were flirting with relegation and their performances were bad to say the least. However, Carrasso was still a beacon of hope for
his team and now, when things have improved considerably, the Frenchman wants the run to continue.
“I do my job to help the team. When all goes well, it’s nice, but nothing is granted. But if you want to do something in the Coupe de France, we must win all games,” said the goalkeeper before saying that there are days when it happens and there are days
when nothing works out.
Bordeaux play Olympique Lyonnais in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France and Carrasso knows that his side will have a tough task on their hands against a side that’s playing in as many as four competitions.
With the European Championships at Poland and Ukraine on the horizon, Carrasso is also aiming to book a place in Laurent Blanc’s France side.
“I knew I would have a difficult start because for the first time in my career, I had made a different preparation for the Euro. My goal was to be ready from January. I get along with Hugo Lloris and Steve Mandanda. They have great qualities and are a bit
younger than me.”
However, Carrasso says that he will always choose club over country. France manager, Laurent Blanc knows all that he needs to about Carrasso so the former Bordeaux man is likely to take him to the European Championships next summer.
