After it was found out that France coach Laurent Blanc’s contract would not be renewed after the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine, the FFF president, Noël Le Graët said that he wants to keep the Frenchman

Faced with the dilemma caused by persistent rumours of the departure of France national team coach Laurent Blanc by the end of Euro 2012, France Football Federation president, Noël Le Graët has come out to try and calm things down.

The rumours would certainly put a lot of pressure on the national team’s preparations for the European Championships and  Le Graët knows that it could jeopardise the side’s chances in the tournament. The likes of Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, Paul Le Guen, Claude Puel and Montpellier coach, Rene Girard have been touted as possible replacements for the former World Cup winner.

Reports claim that Le Graët and Laurent Blanc have a lot of differences which is the reason why Blanc’s contract will not be renewed.

However, while talking to L’Equipe, Le Graët has cleared the tensions by saying that he and Blanc get along well despite reports suggesting otherwise.

“Our relations have perhaps never been better and I hope that Laurent Blanc remains as the coach of the France team. There is zero contact (with potential successors). There will be enough candidates in due course. If the objective was to part with Blanc, it would be very different. But I hope that we can reach an agreement after the Euros.”

Though Le Graët is determined to hold on to Blanc, he knows that nothing can be finalised until the end of Euro 2012.Les Bleus have done admirably under the guidance of Blanc. Under the Frenchman, France have been a force to be reckoned with at the Stade de France.

Determined to put an end to the controversy that could affect the preparations for Euro 2012 Le Graët might have used the right words to convince Blanc to stay at least until July.

With England manager, Fabio Capello already resigning due to the differences with the FA, Le Graët knows that he cannot risk doing the same thing with the national team coach.
