Former Estudiantes manager Alejandro Sabella yet to be appointed by Al Jazira – UAE Pro League news

UAE Pro League Champions, Al Jazira, have clearly stated that former Estudiantes manager, Alejandro Sabella, has not been appointed as the club’s new manager yet. Reports in the media claimed that Sabella has been appointed as the new manager, news which was immediately denied by the club.

Al Jazira officials confirmed that the club has been in search of a new coach ever since Abel Braga decided to part ways with the club in favour of the Brazilian-based outfit, Fluminense. Braga guided the Emirates-based club to a league win in the 2010/11 season. Much to the disappointment of the players and the fans, the Brazilian handed over a release request, which was eventually accepted by the club after failing to convince the manager into prolonging his stay.

Sabella started his managerial career only a couple of years earlier, when he took charge of the Argentina-based football club, Estudiantes. The 56-year-old mentioned that a deal has almost been finalised with the club and will be made public in a few days time.

However, Al Jazira Chief Executive, Phil Anderton, insisted that nothing has been finalised yet as the club is also looking at the other alternatives. Some other names were also been linked with this particular job including the likes of sacked Chelsea coach, Carlo Ancelotti, former Brazil and Portugal boss, Luiz Felipe Scolari, and recently appointed West Ham manager, Sam Allardyce.

Anderton further mentioned, "I'm not going to get caught up in yes and no games as it will only add to rumour and gossip. What I will say is that we are working hard to bring in the right calibre of coach who will be able to continue the great work of Abel Braga and we're confident of securing that. We are not working towards any timescales only against finding the right calibre."

Sabella’s fate would be decided in a few days time but the Argentine seems to be the ideal candidate for the job as Allardyce is no longer unemployed, while Ancelotti is being strongly linked with the Serie A club, AS Roma.
