Former Arsenal defender Tony Adams favours Manchester United to win the Premier League title
Arsenal legendary centre back and former skipper, Tony Adams feels that Manchester United will win the Premier League title in the ongoing 2010-11 season because Sir Alex Ferguson’s team is far more experienced than the young Gunners.
He said, “My heart says the Arsenal but my head says United, they’ve just got too many players who’ve won it before. When you have done it and you’ve crossed the line, you know when to peak and when not to peak and when to win games. Once you’ve done it
once, you know when to step up to the plate.”
Almost more than a half of United’s current first team squad was the member of Sir Alex Ferguson’s team that won the Premier League in the 2008 season and came second the next year. Manchester United are currently leading the Premier League table with 63
points to their name out of 30 games.
Arsenal, who are placed second in the League standings, are the only team who can prevent Manchester United from winning the record 19th Premier League title, which will take them above Liverpool in the all-time title record. Arsene Wenger’s men
are only five points behind Sir Alex Ferguson’s team and also have a game in hand.
Moreover, the Gunners missed a golden opportunity to go on level with Manchester United at the top as they only managed a 2-2 draw against West Bromwich Albion recently. United on the other hand, increased the point difference by winning against Bolton Wanderers.
Arsenal are yet to play United in the Premier League at Emirates and Tony Adams believes that the season would be decided after that fixture.
The Gunners’ have not won a single piece of silverware in last 6 years and Tony Adams, who has won two Premier League trophies under Arsene Wenger, has shown his support for the current Gunners manager and wants him to win a few more medals at Arsenal.
Adams said, “[He is] very honest, honest with his players. Physiology is his strength and he’s just been a revolution for Arsenal. I honestly thought the League Cup was the one for them this season to start the ball rolling. Unfortunately they missed out
on that one; I’d like to see them win a trophy soon.”
