Detroit Pistons Rookie Kyle Singler looking to extend his stint with Real Madrid - NBA Update

The whole NBA lockout saga has confirmed one thing - both players and owners adore money more than the game.

But its natural and they cannot be blamed for this. Money is after all the thing that drives us the most.

In the lockout period, numerous NBA players signed up with various overseas club teams in order to keep themselves fit but more importantly, to keep their bank accounts loaded with money.

Now that the lockout has ended, players have gradually started returning to NBA. Deron Williams, who was representing Turkish team Besiktas, is on his way back and Utah Jazz’s Andrei Kirilenko, will be returning from Russia any time soon. Same is the case with the rest of the players and with time, this process will pick the pace and most probably by the start of shortened NBA season, every player that moved overseas will be back in NBA.

However surprisingly, there are few like the Detroit Pistons Rookie Kyle Singler, who have plans of extending their overseas tenure.

Kyle signed a contract with Spanish powerhouses Real Madrid earlier in the summer, and is performing decently there. His contract provided him an opt-out clause, using which, he could always return to NBA; however a close source has confirmed that he will be signing an extension contract with Real and won’t be returning to NBA this season.

Although the move seems a little strange on the surface, but does have a financial justification. Kyle was the second round draft pick this June, so his paycheck will be missing a few zeroes once he returns to USA. However, by playing overseas especially at Real, he can definitely earn more money.

This deal is not only financially attractive but will also help Kyle in improving his game. Real Madrid is one of the elite teams in European league, and by playing for them, Kyle can enhance his game. This might help him in directly making an impact when he decides to appear at the big NBA stage.

Kyle has not confirmed the deal, but the possibility of it is pretty high.

Pistons have Kyle’s right till 2012-2013, but they would not be able to stop him from signing this deal, because even now, teams are not allowed to have any sort of contact with players.
