The Nerazzurri midfielder is not pleased with his side’s recent performances and understands the fans' emotions after the defeat to Novara.
Inter Milan’s miserable run of form of continues, as they suffered humiliation at the hands of Novara at San Siro on Sunday, February 12.
The Nerazzurri stars were booed by the home fans after the defeat, as they contributed to Novara’s first away win in Serie A for 56 years. This defeat came on the back of the embarrassment at the hands of AS Roma, and their exit
from Coppa Italia against Napoli.
Claudio Ranieri’s men have failed to capitalise on the impressive form they had at the end of 2011. Their big dip in form has seen them drop to fifth place in the league table. A Roma victory over Siena on Monday would see the
Nerazzurri fall to sixth place.
Veteran midfielder, Dejan Stankovic has admitted that Inter Milan’s recent performances have been abysmal.
The Serbian was speaking to Sky Sport Italia after Inter’s defeat against Novara, and in reference to the fans, he said:
"It is normal that there are some whistles. But we are hopeful that we will pick ourselves up.”
The 33-year-old star insists that his side created several opportunities to score, but their wastefulness cost the team important three points. The Serb has demanded immediate improvement from the team.
"We created chances and we were a bit unlucky, but that is no excuse: we must react and recover, especially from a mental point of view."
The former Lazio star made a return to the starting line-up after recovering from an injury. The midfielder was out of action since December, and felt good about his performance on his return.
Talking about his return, he added:
"I had a good return, but we can talk about two different things: my return and the match.”
Inter Milan had 20 shots on goals, but could not capitalise on their chances. On the other hand, Novara, with their limited chances managed to score on the counter attack to secure a 1-0 victory.
