At a time when many players decide to pack their bags and move towards Greece or Turkey, other players do not hesitate to slip even further in order to experience something different. Christophe Psyché is doing exactly the same thing by playing in
Norway
There are many French players who have chosen to go to the most unfashionable leagues in European and world football. However, former Olympique de Marseille player, Christophe Psyché has taken his career to a whole new dimension by choosing to play in Norway.
The 23-year-old was playing for DHO when he was contacted by a Norwegian club named Oslo City. The youngster joined the club that is in division 2. After a year, he went to Lov Ham where he spent just six months. Now, he is playing for Kristiansund BK where
he has been playing for the last three months.
Psyché is now looking to extend his contract to a further two years when his contract expires and is keen to do well.
Making a name in Norway, Psyché admits that he hesitated before accepting the challenge.
“Before coming here, I hesitated. I was aiming for England. I could not see myself anywhere else. But close friends told me to try because after Marseille, there was nothing more for me. So I took the plunge and it has worked out.”
While talking about the level of football in Norway, Psyché admitted that the level is not high but said that the Ligue 2 level is almost the same as Norway division 1’s level. The youngster is still keen on playing in England one day before admitting that
he will eventually return to France in his late career.
Initially, Psyché took 18 months to adapt to life in Norway but is now finding his feet in a league that is rarely televised on many sports channels.
Though many consider Psyché’s arrival to Norway as a step down in his career, the player knew very well that he would never reach the level where he could play for the likes of Marseille, Lyon or Lille. A choice that seems a strange one could turn out to
be a blessing in disguise for the 23-year-old.
